ShearSharp® is an amazing device designed to take the mystery out of sharpening general purpose scissors, hedge clippers, tin snips and the like, and it works equally well for right or left handed people. To use, hold shears and ShearSharp® as shown in the illustration. Using very light downward pressure, draw ShearSharp® past the point of the blade. ShearSharp®’s tungsten carbide blade will do the rest.

Approximately 2 or 3 passes in this manner on each blade should be sufficient to return your shears to “new” sharpness. More passes may be required on extremely dull blades.

REMEMBER: THE SHARPENER MOVES WHILE THE TOOL BEING SHARPENED REMAINS STATIONERY.

The tungsten carbide blade of ShearSharp® is of high grade industrial quality and one of the hardest materials known. Even so, after several years of use, it may become worn. Due to its unique design the sharpener can be reversed for double life.

To reverse the sharpener lay the ShearSharp® on its side with the screws up. Remove the screws and carefully separate the two halves of the handle as shown in the following illustration.

Simply flip the tungsten carbide sharpener over as illustrated. CAUTION: DO NOT REASSEMBLE ShearSharp® WITHOUT THE FINGER GUARD. SERIOUS INJURY MAY RESULT. ShearSharp® is not recommended for pinking shears, high quality barber, beautician, dressmaker or similar shears. These should be sharpened by a professional sharpening service.

DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN SCREWS. The factory torque setting is about 5 inch pounds of pressure. Tighten them only until you feel increased resistance. If sharpener has any cracks around the screw heads­do not use it. Either discard the sharpener or return it under the terms of the warranty. ShearSharp® is perfectly safe when used properly. As a precaution, the blades should be thoroughly cleaned after sharpening.
